Worship Preparation: October 11, 2015

Sunday, October 11, 2015

1. Read the sermon text: James 1:16-18

2. Read the sermon summary: We are prone to being deceived when we face trials and temptations. To think God is not good. To despair because of our troubles. But in this passage James wants to encourage his readers to meditate on the unchanging goodness of God so that they won't be deceived. Not only has he given us good gifts in this temporal life, but also through Christ he has given us the new birth, forgiven us our sins, and brought us into his family.

3. Read the following song lyrics in relationship to the sermon:

Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

You're rich in love and You're slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore
