Read the sermon text: Jeremiah 31:31-34

Read the sermon summary: Ever have moments of self-doubt? (If not, you have a different problem; please see Pastor Jim for counseling.) Ever have moments when you grow weary of wrestling with indwelling sin? Ever forget that the Father has goodwill towards you? Or wonder if there is a chance, given your lack of follow through, that the Father might turn his back on you? If any of these are true of you, then let arguably the most referenced passage in the Old Testament speak to these concerns in your heart of hearts. Jeremiah unpacks Yahweh’s future plans for his people’s relationship with him. These plans concern the Christian’s perception and reality of their identity in Christ. Identity, Obedience, forgiveness, and relationship necessarily stem from the reality of Jeremiah’s prophecy.

Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:

O Fount Of Love
O fount of love divine that flows
From my Savior's bleeding side
Where sinners trade their filthy rags
For His righteousness applied
Mercy cleansing ev'ry stain
Now rushing o'er us like a flood
There the wretch and vilest ones
Stand adopted through His blood

O mount of grace to Thee we cling
From the law hath set us free
Once and for all on Calv'ry's hill
Love and justice shall agree
Praise the Lord the price is paid
The curse defeated by the Lamb
We who once were slaves by birth
Sons and daughters now we stand

O well of joy is mine to drink
For my Lord has conquered death
Victorious forevermore
The ancient foe is laid to rest
Hallelujah Christ is King
Alive and reigning on the throne
Our tongues employed with hymns of praise
Glory be to God alone

From Him through Him to Him be all praise
